About Me

Welcome. I’m Suprit Gupta, a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Chandler, Arizona. I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship struggles, relational trauma, narcissistic abuse, betrayal, attachment wounds, anxiety, cultural and family pressures, and the difficult process of finding themselves again after emotionally painful experiences.

I believe relationships affect far more than our thoughts. They can shape our sense of safety, our identity, our attachment patterns, and even the way our nervous system responds to the world around us.

Sometimes you can understand logically that something is unhealthy and still feel unable to change it. You may know you need a boundary but feel overwhelming guilt when you set one. You may recognize that a relationship is hurting you and still struggle to leave. Or you may love your partner deeply while wondering whether your relationship can actually heal.

That is often where our work begins.

My Approach to Therapy

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing, because there is no one-size-fits-all person.

My approach is integrative, relational, and trauma-informed. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy, attachment-based therapy, EMDR, and nervous system and somatic-informed approaches depending on your needs.

I look beyond symptoms to understand what may be happening underneath them. How did this pattern develop? What helped you survive at one point but may no longer be serving you? What happens in your body and nervous system when you experience conflict, rejection, abandonment, or emotional uncertainty?

Therapy with me is grounded in compassion, but compassion does not mean avoiding difficult conversations. I believe we can hold your experiences with warmth while also gently challenging patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to help you develop greater insight, emotional safety, self-trust, and meaningful change.

Relational Trauma & Narcissistic Abuse

One of my areas of specialized training and interest is narcissistic abuse and relational trauma.

These relationships can be particularly confusing because the impact is not always visible from the outside. Chronic invalidation, manipulation, gaslighting, coercive or controlling dynamics, intermittent reinforcement, betrayal, blame-shifting, and emotional unpredictability can gradually affect the way a person sees themselves and trusts their own experiences.

You may find yourself asking:

“Is it really that bad?”
“Am I overreacting?”
“Why can't I just leave?”
“Why do I still miss them?”
“Was I actually the problem?”

I help clients understand these dynamics without automatically labeling every difficult person or relationship as narcissistic. Instead, we look carefully at patterns, power, emotional safety, attachment, trauma responses, and the impact the relationship has had on you.

Our work may include processing relational trauma, understanding trauma bonds, rebuilding self-trust, strengthening boundaries, reconnecting with your identity, and helping your nervous system begin to experience safety again.

EMDR & Trauma Therapy

Trauma does not always remain neatly in the past. Sometimes the mind knows an experience is over while the body continues responding as though the threat is still present.

I offer EMDR as part of my trauma-focused work when clinically appropriate. EMDR can help clients process distressing experiences, memories, beliefs, and emotional triggers that continue to influence their present lives.

My broader trauma lens also incorporates attachment, emotional processing, and nervous system awareness. Rather than asking only, “What is wrong?” I am interested in understanding, “What happened, how did you adapt, and what does your mind and body need now?”

Couples & Relationship Therapy

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist at heart, and couples remain an important part of my work.

I work with couples experiencing emotional disconnection, recurring conflict, communication breakdowns, intimacy concerns, betrayal and infidelity, trust injuries, cultural differences, family-of-origin dynamics, and major life transitions.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman-based relationship work, while also bringing a structural, attachment, and trauma-informed lens to couples therapy.

Rather than simply teaching couples to communicate “better,” I want to understand the cycle underneath the conflict. What happens between you when one person feels rejected, criticized, abandoned, controlled, or unseen? What protective responses have developed? And can we create a different way of reaching for one another?

For individuals who are questioning their relationships, therapy can also provide a space to explore the difficult question: “Should I stay, or should I leave?” My role is not to make that decision for you. It is to help you slow down the noise, understand what is happening within the relationship and within yourself, and move toward greater clarity.

Culture Matters Here

As a South Asian therapist and immigrant, I understand that relationships do not exist in a vacuum.

Culture, immigration, religion, gender expectations, family loyalty, intergenerational patterns, marriage expectations, and the complicated intersection between individuality and community can profoundly shape our emotional lives.

Sometimes setting a healthy boundary can feel like betraying your family. Choosing yourself can feel selfish. Questioning a marriage can carry the weight of an entire community.

I believe these experiences deserve to be understood within their cultural context rather than pathologized.

I welcome clients from all cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures and am committed to creating an affirming and inclusive therapeutic space.

A Little About the Person Behind the Therapist

My clinical training shapes the therapist I am, but so does life.

I have been married for more than 20 years, am an immigrant, and am raising teenage children. I understand that relationships evolve through seasons, identities change, families become complicated, and life rarely follows the perfectly organized plan we once imagined.

I don't bring my life into the therapy room to make your experience about mine. I bring the perspective that comes from knowing that being human can be complicated.

I value warmth, curiosity, humor, honesty, and compassion. I want therapy to be a place where you can exhale, be challenged, laugh occasionally, cry when you need to, and say the things you may not feel able to say anywhere else.

One quote that has stayed with me is:

“The devil whispered in my ear, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ Today I whispered in the devil’s ear, ‘I am the storm.’” — Unknown

This quote helped me recognize something powerful: strength is not always something we feel in the moment. Sometimes we discover it only after we have been tested, stretched, or brought face-to-face with parts of ourselves we did not know existed.

To me, healing is not about pretending the storm never happened. It is about refusing to let the storm define who you become.

It is about finding yourself again within everything you have survived, recognizing the courage and strength that may have been buried beneath fear, pain, or self-doubt, and learning to trust yourself enough to move forward.

That is what I hope to help my clients discover in therapy: not simply how to survive what happened, but how to reclaim their voice, their choices, and their sense of self so they can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and authenticity.

The Courage Circle

In addition to my individual and couples work, I created The Courage Circle, a supportive and FREE space for individuals navigating toxic, emotionally harmful, or confusing relationships.

I created the circle because healing can feel incredibly isolating, especially when the people around you may not fully understand what you are experiencing. Sometimes what we need most is a place where we can speak honestly, ask the questions we have been afraid to ask, hear from others with similar experiences, and begin to feel less alone.

The Courage Circle is not therapy or crisis support. It is a community-centered space designed to offer connection, reflection, validation, and support as women begin to better understand their experiences, rebuild self-trust, and move forward with greater clarity and courage.

For me, the circle reflects an important part of my work: healing does not always happen in isolation. Sometimes courage begins when we realize we are not the only one carrying the weight.
