Michele's first career was in business and outside sales, but helping others who are struggling with emotional pain has always been her passion. Life circumstances created an opportunity to change direction from business to mental health, and ultimately pursue her dream. Michele believes people are courageous to face their individual and relationship challenges; they are amazingly resilient and capable of healing, growth, and change. She feels her role as a therapist is to collaborate with her clients toward a more desirable future and provide a safe, non-judgmental, supportive environment that nurtures growth and healing. She believes we are all a part of a greater whole and are influenced by others, including our family of origin, current relationships, society and culture; therefore, she approaches therapy from an integrative holistic perspective.
Michele's approach is grounded in systems training and attachment based theories. Her primary theories and modalities are Structural Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Structural therapy assists in understanding the complexities of boundaries and their role in creating safety and confidence allowing people to love freely without constraints and resentment. Emotionally Focused Therapy can help people learn to improve their communication by identifying the negative communication patterns they may have gotten stuck in, learn how to identify primary emotions driving those patterns and how to communicate them in an authentic, congruent and clear way.
